What make of French howitzer would be a good match for the Perry French 6 pdr? Cheers, Simon

Sash and Saber do a nice one.

Thanks, do you know how it compares size wise to the Perry one?

Sorry, I should have given a more clear answer. I think you will find it matches up well in both size and quality. In fact, I find all of S&S's guns and equipment are particularly good.

The French should be using the AnXI 24-pdr Howitzer. The Perry Model is the AnXI 6-pdr and was in service between 1805 and 1809. Some remained in service in 1812 but were suplemented to the modified carriage that has been termed as the M1808 carriage that had 8-pdr fitings to the AnXI woodwork.

The Sabre and Sash is the 6in howitzer which suggests that it is the Gribeauval 6.4in howitzer that was obsolete by 1803.

Thanks for the replies!

Do the Sash and Sabre 6pdr and 12pdr cannons have the Imperial motif on?

Did the 6pdr ever have the Imperial motif?
Cheers, Simon

Simon,
I saw them at Fall In and yes they have the Imperial Crest near the touch hole. Real detailed. I picked up a couple.

Dear Simon
The AnXI 6-pdr and 12-pdr would have the Imperial crest with the N in the centre. It should be noted that none of the Gribeauval Guns should have the imperial crest. These would have the Royal crest cast before 1789 or the Revolutionary monogram. No Gribeauval Field Guns were cast during the Empire.
