These guys definitely need a base of operations: rebelminis.com/eafoma.html I found this set up on Matakishi's site and thought it looked perfect: link The problem, of course, is that the instructions are for 28mm figures: link QUESTION: If I was to make something similar for 15mm figures, should I plan for room ceilings to be about 20mm high, or should I go higher than that? Thanks. Dan TMP link |

I'm focusing now on the buildings at the base: link I already made some of the rough terrain features that will go around the base: link Dan |

Dan, Bug me until I find the time to post pictures of my cork terrain I made like yours (got mine painted) and some buildings I made from electrical boxes. The buildings turned out really well and don't take a lot of work (especially since I used some of GZG's great building details). You could also use some containers to do buildings like the ones in a few of the pictures on my web space. Just need to add a few details and they are good to go. I have enough containers to make a small city of the things. Jeff |

Here's where I plug our V15-BLD range of SciFi building fittings again! I know you are aware of them, CC, but for anyone else who hasn't seen them, they are perfect for dressing up simple card structures like those shown in the link you provided. Re the actual question, a typical room height is 8 feet, or about 2.4m, which means that in 15mm you really want to work with around 25mm or so. 20mm might be a bit restrictive, though it could look OK for low-ceilinged temporary buildings and prefab huts. Nice plug Jon! The fittings are wonderful and greatly speed up my terrain building. Jeff |

Jon, I tried making my own hatches and doors, but was not convinced with the results: link link Then I bought several packs of your GZG building fittings and now I'm itching to use them. link I'm confident that, no matter how mundane the source material used for a building, the GZG fittings will turn them into convincing SF structures: link Dan link |

Thanks for the compliment CC (Thats my colony built to Matakishis plans) Your biggest issue with scaling the plans for 15mm would be to find some of the old 3mm cork tiles, they only seem to do 5mm these days and that may look a little to heavy. Other than that just draw out the pieces at what seems a suitable size for your figures and go for it. Robert |

Jon, Any chance that GZG could make something like Antenociti's resin control panels in a 15mm scale? |

Robert(Toaster), That is one heck of a job you did there. Fantastic photos too. Do you have more photos of it posted elswhere, aside from the 4 at Matakishi's site? Thanks. Dan |

Don't mess with cork board at that thickness, buy Sintra board instead. It's available in 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, and 5 or 6mm thicknesses. Antenociti uses that for his Infinity boards. Just to point out, many modern buildings are using much greater distances between floors than a mere 8 feet. The current standard is closer to 12 feet floor-to-floor, and seems to be getting higher all the time. |

Lion: "many modern buildings are using much greater distances between floors than a mere 8 feet. The current standard is closer to 12 feet floor-to-floor, and seems to be getting higher all the time." Would that be the same with off-world structures, or would they try to economize when it comes to space? Thanks. Dan |

I think it depends entirely on the purpose of the structure. The 8 feet or so that I mentioned is very common for domestic property, but commercial and business premises will likely be much higher. |

CC, I had started resizing Matakashi's templates for 15mm use (essentially reducing the dimensions of each to 60% of the ones given for 28mm). I can't remember how far I got on that, but if you PM me, I can send you what I do have. I think it's in a Powerpoint file, but I can print it to PDF if you don't have Powerpoint. |

Javelin, PM sent. Thanks so much. Dan |

Dan the two story building is copied from one that was posted on Teragenesis, I tried to find the link but Teragenesis appears to be down right now, I'll get back to you later I hope. Robert |

Yeah, scaling down the templates will work fine. I did it with some of Matakshi's other buildings to make a small town and it worked fine. Thanks, John |
