I know that Gripping Beast and Redoubt no longer have US distributors. Are there any other major companies that aren't in the US?

Dixon.

I'm not sure if 1st Corps does or not?

Disco Joe19 Nov 2009 10:16 a.m. PST

Grand Manner.

Pierce Inverarity19 Nov 2009 10:17 a.m. PST

GZG.

AB Figures (the 20mm WWII range).

Gallowglass19 Nov 2009 10:26 a.m. PST

Grand Manner.

Did they ever have a US distributor?

I think 1st Corps are distributed by Scale Creep in the US.

Gallowglass,
RLBS used to distribute Grand Manner.

mad monkey 119 Nov 2009 10:29 a.m. PST

Kallistra.

Gallowglass19 Nov 2009 10:33 a.m. PST

Did they? Never knew that.

Damn it anyway, that IS a pity. GM are a company from whom I've never mail ordered (either while here or in Ireland) as the shipping costs are savage. I do understand why it's expensive, of course – resin buildings, bulkiness and all that.

Oh well. C'est la vie and so forth.

Just to confirm, I (Scale Creep) am just beginning to do business with 1st corps (placing my first small order this week).

It will be a while until I even get their catalog added to the web site, much less pictures and stock. But we'll get there :-)

Of course, some, like GZG, don't need a US distributor!

Farstar19 Nov 2009 11:45 a.m. PST

GZG used to have one and was not being well served by them, to recall the scuttlebutt of the day. To be honest, they were on the route to self-destruction by the time Jon terminated that relationship…

nazrat19 Nov 2009 12:01 p.m. PST

The Assault Group.

Rudysnelson19 Nov 2009 12:18 p.m. PST

TAG used to use Little Wars of Houston as did Mirleton and Chariot.

What about Venexia or the new Testudo company.

Farstar19 Nov 2009 12:53 p.m. PST

TAG is still listed at Warpath Games.

Actually Kallistra never had a US distrubuter. I wish they had one.

bjporter19 Nov 2009 1:21 p.m. PST

Good news about the 1st Corps Stuff, thanks Mark!

Freikoprs has a couple US dealers. I can place special orders but there is one dealer actually holding inventory – Miniature Models but I do not have their contact info. I don't know if they have a web presence…

Maidenhead.

Thought about picking up the line myself;
Wifey'd kill me.

Many of Redoubt's ranges are no longer carried by Miniature Service Center.

Sterling Moose21 Nov 2009 7:16 a.m. PST

Pontoonier Miniatures, well it seems that way anyway.

Shame, as I need some more and Ben seems to have dropped off the face of the planet.

A small store might also ask what European companies need USA distributors?

A trinkleing volume of sales or just to satisfy your hankering to get an odd casting does not justify the high cost of overseas shipping and high amount of stock to be an importer for a small store.

Over the past 20 years I have imported over a dozen ranges. The volume of sales has never justify the costs and fund outlay (tied up money) to continue the importing.

With the tendacy for manufacturer to customer direct sales, it makes importing many ranges (not all) less financial beneficial. And small stores do have to make a profit to stay in business regardless of what some frugal gamers may want to pay for miniatures.
