Mine is The First Men in the Moon. PER TMP COMPLIANCE RULES: How would you game this in miniature? |

Disney's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". I would use Parroom Station's "Captain Nemo in Masonic Dress" as Himself. |

I quite liked Mysterious Island but it was a long time ago that I saw it. |

If you post to the Plus Boards (created during the great CA schism) , you can discuss movies as movies all you like. They even have a board for it. LLC aka Ron |

Does Van Helsing count? I'm using figures from West Wind and others. I wish they would make a great Colonial VSF film. Let's invade Mars with out Ether fliers! Sadly, I fear it would have too many anti-nationalism and "we are bad people to believe we are right" messages. :-( |

If you post to the Plus Boards (created during the great CA schism) , you can discuss movies as movies all you like. They even have a board for it. This is a perfect example of why splitting the boards into un-crosspostable areas was a bad idea. The topic would fit perfectly in either Board. |

I would have to agree with John the OFM, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" has always been one of my favorite's, even with Kirk Douglas singing
:-) and any sub I build for my VSF gaming always seems to end up looking a bit like the Nautilus. Maybe it's because it was released in theaters the year I was born? |

5 Weeks In A balloon. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. can't think of much else right now. |

The Disney version of 20,000 L was great, and I loved James Mason as Nemo. I could even put up with Kirk Douglas' singing. |

John the OFM "This is a perfect example of why splitting the boards into un-crosspostable areas was a bad idea. The topic would fit perfectly in either Board." Good point, and, at the risk of hijacking my own thread, I would put in a vote that the split be undone now that TMP is making its move to new software. |

Will Smith in Wild Wild West – the spider tank thingy and the tracked tank that kills off the soldiers, the trains. All cool stuff and you can use ACW figures and regular wild west figures for your troops together with any other figures from the era – like British Colonials, Indians, etc. It would be interesting to game it as well – but for the spider thing at the end you would have to go with a smaller scale – say 10mm or 6mm to convey the size of the thing. Next would be 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea – great film and there are plenty of figures available from RLBPS and others which fit the bill and you could modify the PIRATES! rules to do the naval actions. |

City Of Lost Children. Probably not Kosher VSF (there are lots of anachronisms) but it's close enough for me. Not much of a source for wargame inspiration, unless you maybe had the Cyclops go up against a band of the Octopus urchins. I've never seen Master Of The World but it looks interesting, and it's got Vincent Price. picture As a kid I loved Mysterious Island but always hated the lame ending
obligatory volcanic explosion wiping out all the cool stuff and the single interesting character. |

I know it is popular to bash LOEG, but, I gotta admit, I thought it was an okay film. Maybe this is because I never read the comic, from which, IIUC, the movie diverged wildly, but, in and of itself, I never saw the reason for all the rancor. |

Another vote for Wild Wild West. I think the movie itself, as far as acting and writing, was horrible. But for conceptualizing steam vehicles and how they operate it was great. |

Island at the Top of the World,Vikings at the North Pole or something. Another Disney film, made sometime in the 70's,I remember seeing it on the big screen as a kid. I saw it a couple of years ago on cable,as well. I like First Men in the Moon as well, and got it on VHS for $3 USD when Hollywood Video was purging their tapes a few years ago. I havent seen it on DvD. I also have Mysterious Island on DvD,obtained at WalMart a couple of years ago as well.My little game group does VSF,but another individual does all the figures for it,some mighty fun games of Dino hunting using Gaslight. |

I was fine with League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen until the last third or so
the guy playing Moriarty was weak and it all just kind of went to crap once that bit was revealed. |

"The Mysterious island" (1929) – A volcanic Island, giant squid, TWO submarines, a host of underwater munchkins, cossacks, a mob revolt, Montagu Love as the Mad Baron and Lionel Barrymore as the rumple haired scientist – whats not to like. I'm sure I could figure some way to have a Chinese Junk show up with Fu Manchu aboard

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen would be rather interesting to play, if slightly off-setting. No matter, I'm very certain he'd find a way to adventure gloriously no matter the setting

For gaming? It's not a movie, but Last Exile. 2000-ft-long flying warships still using roughly age-of-sail formations and tactics, except for those 'barbarians' on the 'kill-em-all Silvana' who are in a dreadnought-era ship all of 500 feet long. Only problem is that you don't actually control your own lift system, the Guild does, except for the Silvana (hey, it's the ship of the main characters of the story, it's gotta have some special features). The aircraft are not capable of lifting enough of a load to really threaten Warships until the end of the series, where the entire setting gets turned around on you. Even at the final battle scenes, the aircraft are barely comparable to 1936 technology and lifting capacity. For gaming, I'd get a copy of Aeronef. |
