A British Space Empire with massive dreadnoughts. An insectoid enemy. Enough pop culture references to keep most nerds happy. That's the books in a nut shell but they have lots of scope for gaming. Granted they aren't the best books in the world but they fill a wet and windy afternoon. Check em out and you to could be planning acts of derring do for The Empire. The Tea Must Flow!

An ideal holiday read, unchallenging and amusing, but with some great ideas. Kind of VSF `Flashman in Space' feel to them.

Yeah dead on. I would love to take the oddly named ships out for a spin on the gaming table. Giving battle aboard the Edward Stobart just seems mental.

Green trim, I take it? grin. I'm intrigued by these. I'd like to see how they stand up against the other SF Flashman pastiche, the 40K Ciaphas Cain novels.

The author hangs out on the RPG.net forums and is a pretty nice guy. I've been meaning to buy the book for that reason alone (but also because it sounds like a good mix of campy sci-fi and humor).

Read all three and just keep getting better.

Modelled by WH40K Praetorians on them. Now all I need are some big-arsed ants for Tau…..

I'm read the first two and they are an enjoyable read. This will give you an idea of the humor

The exterminator said, "Don't worry, mate: it's all sorted out now. We killed 'em – very quick and painless."
"What did you use? Traps?"
"Submachine gun. Normally we'd just put some stuff down, landmines, say, but this is a small ship, and you've got to remember that it's somebody's home."
"Guns? What the hell was it?"
"Procturan black ripper. It's always a shame. Near perfect organism, your Procturan ripper. Beautiful animal. A born predator, unencumbered by delusions of conscience or remorse. Its hostility is matched only by its physical perfection… we found him down the back of the fridge."
