Holy crap. T'other week a fellow militaria collector found a pouch badge to the Royal Highland Emigrants (circa 1775) whilst metal detecting in Canada. I thought that was cool. This is a WHOLE 'nother level. |

Incredible! Both the importance and richness of the find, and the fact that he just hopped out of his car and found this pile almost immediately. Makes me wonder how much more is left unfound. |

Sigh
I keep digging up wrought nails and the odd bits of iron fittings and horseshoes in the back yard. Haven't found anything valuable, though
. I did discover an old well that wasn't listed on the deed, however. |

How did he know he 'might have found gold'? Have detectors got a whole lot more sophisticated since I was a kid? |
