Our group purchased zombies from Wargame Factory's during the recent sale and survivors at Fall-In. That was the easy part. I am now looking at RR scale building for what is modern skirmish. HO is too small and it seems that O scale might be too big. There does not seem to be any manufactures that make S scale buildings, which I understand is between HO and O. I also understand that RR scale is not as straight forward as it is made to seem and that, just like with miniature manufactures, there is a lot of variation in the size of any given scale between manufacturers. Are there recommendations for what is "just right" or that works for others. Any help is appreciated. |

Plasticville and K-Line O scale buildings will work just fine for 28mm zombie games. The link below is an entire town made from Plasticville and K-Line buildings just for 28mm zombie skirmish games. link |

Not as well done as the link above, but I use Plasticville as well. Ranch home picture Church picture Factory picture I have several other buildings now that are in the process of being overhauled. I buy them damaged or missing pieces at train shows. If your figures are based on GW plastic style bases then the slightly larger buildings don't matter as much. |

We use O scale buildings and they tend to be just fine. We have Lionel, Rail King, Plasticville and other manufacturers side by side on our tables with no issues. Plus, you can run O scale subway cars and freight trains across your layout :) |

We use Plasticville, and others, for Combat Zone. The terrain is equally useable for Zombie games: link |

I have acquired quite a few O scale buildings over the past few years for gaming: K-line, plasticville, ameri-towne. Scale is subjective even from the same manufaturers, the door on one building looking just right for 28mm, but the next one with doors that tower over the minis. So what? If it bugs you, there are quick fixes. the ZombieTown link above has excellent ideas and lots of photos. But if the discrepancies bother you, check out paper buildings, like WorldWorks. Their stuff is urban; most of the RR stuff is rural or small town USA. That may be an improtant aspect – where will your games take place? The big city or small town? |

Nobody cares if it is big, if it is correct they will say too small. |

Thanks for the information and impressive links. While we are anything but purists, and overall cost will be a factor since Zombies will be, at best, a side period, it is my belief that where possible you should use what looks best. Based on the above advice, I suspect that means that I will be ordering a load of O scale stuff shortly. :-) |
