Just a heads up for anyone in the Gettysburg area on November 21: The annual Remembrance Day parade is being held. This is a gathering of Civil War reenactors to commemorate the anniversary of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. There will be a parade of several thousand reenactors (North & South) along Baltimore Street and Steinwehr Avenue ending at the Park. It starts around noon and lasts a couple of hours. There will also be groups of reenactors laying wreaths at their regiments' monuments throughout the park all weekend.

I will be there in my usual spot in front of John Zabawa's Gettysburg Miniature Soldiers with my little 4-year-old grandson watching the "soljers."

What's cheesy about the parade? I mean it's a parade! Bands playing, flags flying, crowds of enthusiastic watchers lining the way. What's not to like? :) The weather is even supposed to be nice.

Hey, I resemble those cheesy fat reenactors (though I haven't dressed in drag lately)! What do you want? I'm a miniature gamer so I need to keep those fat cells in proper form.

I'll be in the parade, in blue, of course. 138th PA, co. B, all local Gettysburg boys. What's great about the parade, is the emotion I get from honoring our civil war ancestors and all of our veterans of past wars. There is no cheese here for me. I take this very seriously!
And Bob, here's your problem, you're hanging out at the wrong place. All the good looking women are at O'rorkes! lol. Bob, what state are you with? PA, Goselines Zouaves?

Like I said, been there done it. Just going to hang with friends.I'm from NY. 95th NY came from my town. 3 members are in the National Cemetery there, 2 here at home. Fought on the 1st days field at the Railroad Cut.
And yes, we'll probably end up at O'Rorkes at some point!
