My 11 year old son bought some lizardmen at Historicon bought some Lizardmen at the flea market. He wants to start playing WFB, and I know we will need a rule book (I have WAB). He bought 12 Skink archers and 11 of what I think are Saurus warriors (although they don't seem to have spiked backs). What will he need to get a starter Lizardmen army? I plan on getting him the Lizardmen book for Christmas and getting him the figs he needs for a starter army. |

Get the Batallion box for that army if you can find a deal (though those are generally a deal to begin with). That will have all the core you need and a few other bits. |

The Battalion is $90 USD from GW, if you buy it in november there is free shipping. It has 20 Saurus Warriors, 12 Skinks, 10 Temple Guard and eight Saurus Cavalry in it so with what he has and some sort of commander model you should be pretty set for him to have a starter army together. He will have two units of 15 ish Saurus warriors and two units of skinks for four core choices, then he'll have some cavalry in there to provide some (very) hard hitting and quick moving troops as well as some elite and steady warriors that can support the line with a counter attack or be a spear tip to launch an attack on the enemy. He'll need a guy to lead the army and there you are pretty much looking at anywhere from $15 USD to $50 USD for a commander for the army. I'd recommend one of the lower priced ones as they will only take up a hero or lord choice in the army list and won't also take up a rare choice or an additional hero choice and won't be a crap load of points. Although putting your leader on a Stegadon is a nice way to get a leader and a really tough, and cool looking, model in your army at the same time. |

If i were you, i would buy the Lizardmen from maelstromgames.co.uk , They offer 10-15% rebate on GW stuff and free shipping worldwide. For instance, you will get the lizardmen battalion for 65 USD, and no shipping charge. I guess there must be other "discount" sellers, but that is the only one i have ever bought from (and i can recommend it) |
