How would you game a Cthulhu Mythos movies? Not rpg, but war game. Like, if the stars were right, and slimy things with tentacles come back, but we say, "Hey, we got tanks and NUKES mother ers!" And can you recommend any good Mythos movies? |

Dude! All the tanks/planes/and nukes are not going to save you when The Big 'C' shows up! But if you must Monster Apocalypse has a few 'cthulhu' type monsters in thier system. Maybe a Hellboy movie style game stopping the minions before the gate opens. Dagon was good and the recent silent movie 'call of Cthulhu' and for giggles the Unnamable II! Where the nude superhot girl tries and fails to get the attention of the two scientists.

Hm. Might be kind of interesting to see how Cthulhu would fare against a nuke. Would he or wouldn't he reconstitute himself? Dagon was pretty good, although it took some pretty major liberties with the story "Shadow Over Innsmouth." Both Hellboy movies were pretty good and Lovecraftian, although not actually based on anything Lovecraft wrote. If you like old 1930s horror movies, there is a version of "The Call Of Cthulhu" that ROCKS -- the special effects are in line with what you could expect to see in the thirties. I loved it. But then, I love old horror movies. |

Big C took a nuke in the book, the Trail of Cthulhu. Basically returned him to his eternal slumber. Until NEXT time! AHAHAHA! |

Most of the gods in the Cthulhu Mythos are multi-dimensional. Even if you're able to "destroy" them here on Earth, you've only destroyed that aspect which had physically manifested in this dimension. They simply reconstitute themselves in one or more alternate dimensions (which might take a while) and come back for more. You're much further ahead destroying the minions before any of the gods sow up. |

There's an RPG covering humanity fighting off Elder Ones called Cthulhutech. Mi-Go armies invade Earth along with other eldritch horrors, countered by human weapons, mecha and maybe even psionics (or just eldritch magic). Haven't actually seen it yet, just read about it. It could be good background material for setting up some minis games. |

Cloverfield and The Mist could fit into the Cthulhu mythos. |

I agree with Beowulf though I enjoyed The Mist and I did not enjoy Cloverfield. In my view, which is worth less then you paid for it, The Mist was well filmed, suspenseful and had characters you pulled for. Cloverfield was poorly filmed, no suspense, and you were just hoping for the characters to get squished. Spoiler Ahead – sorta The Cloverfield monster with the bug monsters that fall off it is pretty much the same as the large monster found in the story The Mist – A large monster with bug monsters that fall off it. Also, it is visually very similar to that same monster in the movie The Mist . |

In the Mouth of Madness would make a cool game. You gotta get out of Hobb's End before being tainted by the evil there. Would be a great story in just about any time period as well. Brian |
