Has anyone out there yet done a Frankenstein-like mix-and-match of the figures from these two? Not just mixing figures in the same army or unit, but actually sticking different manufacturers heads, arms and legs together in the same figure. I was just thinking that splicing together the WF Vikings & Germans with the Warlord Roman Auxilia could create either a quite interesting post-Roman British / Dark Ages army, or a horrible mish-mash army made up of badly fitted together and ill proportioned half-breeds* Of course, once you start to add in the Zombies, ECW figures, Zulus and the Perry ACW and Victrix Napoleonics the possibilities are endless.. tim * insert your own gag involving your own negative opinions concerning the standard of 28mm figures from either manufacturer here. |

That is an interesting idea. Wait and see if either of the guys comment. |

The only thing I've tried so far is using some WL Imperial Roman heads on my WF Germans and Celts. I keep meaning to put some pictures on the blog I've started, but I haven't yet had the time. The heads are perhaps just a bit small for the WF figures, but the helmet (IMHO) makes it completely passable. Heck, even some of the WF heads in the German pack look way too small (particularly the ones with a side or topknot – I didn't use them). You'll have to make a neck, though, since WF heads have a bulbous protrusion at the bottom that fits into a cavity at the top of the chest, and the WL Romans have it the other way around. I made mine with a small bit of sprue. Again, it's too small, but that's okay, since you can't see the neck under the back of the coolus helmet, anyway, and the front of the neck is easily obscured if you use the right torso. As for arms and legs, no, I haven't tried it, but I may do a bit off that with my Spartacus conversions. As soon as I can get some photos together, I'll post my blogsite back to this thread. |

I'm building a Celt/Brition army and bought a box of celts from each and mixed them all up. It worked fine I think. Only thing I will say is the Warlord heads are much nicer than the wargames factory ones which have the horrible smooth hair which I don't like. However one set use heads without necks and one set use heads with necks so a little bit of cutting and filling is needed to get heads from one set on the bodies from the other set. Being plastic its not difficult though. |

Try here: link I mixed Warlord and Wargames Factory legs, arms, heads and torsos. I'm pretty happy how they turned out. A tiny bit of green stuff was required for the bottom of the torsos and a bit of plastic was required to give the Warlord minis necks to fit the Factory bodies. I haven't tried it with the German sprues but as these have whole bodies, conversion might be a little more tricky. Once sprayed, I was pretty pleased with the unique look of the models. Kudos to Wargames Factory providing a surplus of parts, I've used the arms off the unarmoured Viking sprue to fit out the odd extra armless figure you get with the Warlord ECW plastics. Perry & Victrix are even more compatible, with heads and arms being easily swappable between each set. In fact some gamers I know use the sets as 'conversion kits' for their collections. Guy |

Hi Prince Rupert – the Celts were our 3rd set and we get better with each release. You can see the new hair/faces on the Vikings (latest set): TMP link |

Somewhere I saw a pic of someone who had combined Warlord auxiliaries and WF EIR cav and it was quite convincing. Regards, Bill |

Fifty4 those are much better heads. Other than the hair I liked the set. The slings where a good idea which allowed me to knock up some skirmishers from my odds and ends which was nice. The problem with the hair is that at 1/56 scale hair would appear flat, but I'm used to figures with exegerated detail it's just easier to paint. |

Definitely! Something we learned in the process of finding our style. Now the hair strands are nice and chunky to really stand out from 3 feet away. |
