Hello,
There's a figure depicted in the color section of the most recent Imperial Guard codex- he is identified as a pilot and is carrying what appears to be a case of vials. Having scoured the internet and GW's site, I can't find that guy anywhere. Anyone know where he is from?

Also, since you've read this far and might be interested in 40K IG, can anyone tell me which older IG codex had the "alternative regiment" pictures in it? It showed some oddball stuff like what Redemptionist and Escher figures might look like if they were Imperial Guard.

Thanks!

That would be the 4th ed. IG codex I believe, the one with the doctrines in it.

Does he have a pistol in his other hand, and a baldy head?

He's from the 4th edition box set – Battle for Macragge. Sadly, as 40K is now on the 5th edition, he's unavailable, unless you try Ebay.

Moonbeast, I belive the previous Codex: Imperial Guard was actually released during 3rd edition. Confusingly, Imperial Guard (and Chaos) got 2 codexes during 3rd edition. The first one looked like this:

It had some pictures of various regiments – including a van Saar ganger. The second one looked like this:

And had more pictures of various regiments.

I think he's the lieutenant varras model from the 4th edition Battle for Macragge box, you'll probably have to track him down on ebay.

Thanks guys… I figured he was an OOP figure. Curse GW for showing him in the newest codex!

I thought they were going to release that crashed flyer sprue again, but they haven't yet. Worth keeping an eye out though.

Lt. Varras should be widely available in the secondary market, since he isn't actually part of any army list outside the intro scenarios. The publication of Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader might have changed people's attitudes toward the model, but there should still be a LOT of him out there not being used.

If you want one, I have 2 of him… Neither of which is likely to see ANY use in my assorted 40K armies, even as objectives. PM me and we'll talk price, if you want one(or both). BTW, the previous IG codex was released not long after the MacCragge set came out…

They did:

That guy isn't on that sprue, though (nor is the little power core piece); he's on the same sprue as all the Marines.

Lt. Varras makes a great IG lieutenant. The arms are easily removed and replaced with Cadian arms, and with a bit of shaving, the bald head can be replaced with just about anything else. Alot of folks bought Battle for Macragge box, so there have got to be quite a few available.

That guy isn't on that sprue,

Explains that! cheers.
