In planning how to convert some HO model RR buildings into 15mm "scenics", I am wondering whether or not to include the kit window frames.

They may improve how the buildings look, yet are going to be another modelling step to do.

Since the defenders (assuming that the buildings are occupied) would have knocked the glass panes out anyway, and might well have knocked out some of the frames, too, is there much point in including window frames?

Similarly, how many people bother to model wooden flooring and/or wallpaper in 15mm building models?

Not every building is defended. Leave the frames in.

Otherwise they will look ruined even when they aren't.

(I don't worry about flooring and wallpaper, as I glue the roofs onto all my buildings.)

depends.

Are you not going to be happy about it if you don't? Are players going to be lifting the lid off the houses expecting to find furniture, painted walls, tiled floors, and a flushing toilet.

Do you want the rifle barrels to poke out of windows which is not a good tactical idea anyway?

Or are they just there to fill the village in?

If it was me, I'd do as little as possible to get them looking OK for the tabletop, then add the details later (when or if I have the time).

Best approach, send replacement model for each that is simply rubble. WWII battles reduce buildings to rubble if there is any HE being fired around. Glass panes being shattered, yes, frames, having done carpentry work, that would take A Lot of work, other than maybe the cross piece, which would still take a lot of work to remove. Interiors, well, if your going to do hand to hand inside the buildings, maybe dress them up, though I kinda doubt anyone pays much heed to whats inside unless its "cover" of some sort. For things like pulp action game etc, insides are very nice, characters spend much of their time inside rather than outside.

Just some thoughts.
