I would like to buy some 6mm Adler Bavarian Napoleonics but have no idea how many I need. I am new to the 6mm range and there doesn't seem to be any "starter army" packs available. Could a TMP member help me out here? Maybe give me a rundown on what I will need for a moderate sized force and how many of what figure etc? |

try these wise folks at the 6mm forum: link The answer I suspect however depends what rules you want to use? |

Adler sell Divisional packs, the Bavarian one has enough figures to build 8 battalions each of 42 figures plus 2 light bns. This gives a scale of 1 to 20, though as usual battalions were usually well under strength. I think all my battalions have 24 or 36 figures. As Angel said, how much you want to use depends on teh rules. For General de Brigade you could have a pretty decent game with 10 battalions though I'd add at least one cavalry regt – ideally quite a small one (around 18 to 20 figures) so it is a threat but doesn't dominate the game. If you are playing G de B then have a look at their forum – link I haven't been on for a while but there are quite a few posts by me and others about using the rules for 6mm. Angel has put some pics of one of my games up on his site link This used rather more than 10 bns a side! |

Thanks! Ok so if my calculations are correct the Divisional packs contain 336 figures (not including light bns). If I buy the BVDP 1 Bavarian Infantry Division and BP 26 Bavarian Cavalry Brigade this should give me a decent amount of figures to be going on with. Might as well pick up some cannons while I am at it too I guess. EDIT: My calculations aren't correct (doh!) I can't figure out how many minis come in the divisional pack :( |

I have my Adler Russians based to play Lassale or Shako.. You can see pics on my blog.. 48 figs = 1 Battalion (the cave will be re-based soon to suit Lassale). warandpaint.blogspot.com Cheers, TW |

Ah ok thank you :) so a division is plenty of figures to be going on with for starters. Thanks for your help everyone, if you have any rules to recommend please go ahead. Prefer fast-paced aggressive games. |

I think the divisional packs come with artillery – worth checking with Adler. I like General de Brigade. Some describe them as old-fashioned but I'm generally happy with them. |

The Bavarian divisional pack looks like about 420 infantry figures (42 x 8 line battalions, 42? x 2 light battalions) PLUS artillery (4 or 5 guns, each with 4 crew) PLUS mounted command (probably 8-12 figs). My Adler orders have generally turned up with a few extra strips of figs as well. That'll keep you busy for a while. |

Wow I wasn't aware the divisional packs came with artillery and mounted command! |
