While working on my current Italo-Ethiopian War 1935-6 project, I've just added an Italian biplane to the collection. Photos of the finished article and work in progress are here:

Very nicely done. Shows what determination, hard work and some research can do.

Nice work, and good point re. making models for gaming vs. for modelling competitions or display!

A lot of work there, the completed project must give you a great sense of satisfaction; simply beautiful!

Great paint job!!!
In the 20-30ies there was a famous air show in Capri I think it is obvious that the war paint scheme on this fighter is closer to an air show than to a real war, which makes it even more interesting in my opinion!
What scale do you wargame in?

I'm gaming the Italo-Ethiopian War of 1935-6 in 28mm, but a 1/72 scale plane seemed fine flying above the battlefield.

I'd agree the paint scheme is more suitable for an air show, but I think camo paint schemes have their origins in wars where both sides have an air force that can scout and strafe the other side's airfields. I don't imagine having a white plane was a problem for the Italians in Ethiopia as Haile Selassie's 'air force' had, according to the largest estimate, 12 planes, none of which was armed…

Anyhow, it's a cool paint scheme, and it was fun to paint.

Good
news!I have found a book with Savoia Marchetti S.M 81 3 engine bombers with a very similar paint scheme only less stripes and thicker ones.
The colour on the fuselage is of a more sandy shade.
Also these planes belonged to the La Disperata corps their pirate scull with crossed bones is fantastic!
