Less well remembered but just as important, was the fact that Keith Park took over as air Commander in Malta, and the Italian/German losses shot up and the effectiveness of their raids slid down dramatically from that point. |

The former mayor of London wanted the Trafalgar Square statues of Generals Havelock and Napier replaced, on the basis that "no one knows who they are any more". That remark simply prompted all the London newspapers to do features on the men and of course the statues stayed. |

Knowing Livingstone, it was more likely he was pandering to minorities in the hope of getting their votes. Interesting that nobody "remembers" Napier for almost single-handedly putting an end to suttee. |
