Finally finshed painting up a Zoat for my retro Wood Elf army – link |

He's looking good
I've just dug out my collection of Zoats to remind what I need to do
ummm
I have some serious work ahead of me
picture I guess Citadel didn't design these guys to be in a formed unit. The oversized weapons and outstretched arms make it impossible to place them together! |

A picture of my Wood Elf spears – picture |

Good job. Love the classic GW stuff. Regards Chris |

Wow – serious Zoatage!! Also love the Elf Spearmen – really wanted those minis for my army but they have proved elusive on Ebay so I had to go for the newer Glade Guard spears. Anyone else got any old Wood Elf related stuff to share? |

OK I spent an enjoyable hour taking photos of my wood elves, which I've been meaning to do for ages
Wood Elf Riders: picture Lords Bowmen: picture Guard: picture Archers: picture Kinband: picture Treemen: picture (still on the painting table!) The Army so far: picture Im about ready for a game of Warhammer
of course that would be 3rd edition. Am I a bit late? Hope you like. Enjoy! |

I really like how you did the eyes, quite reptillian. |

Nice work on some great old figures guys. With those pictures you've brought back fond memories of lazy summer holidays spent painting and preparing for Warhammer. I never did get my entire army painted, I'll have to dig it out of storage and finish it. Thanks for sharing. |

Cheers for all the comments – great army Swordlord – cavalry next on my agenda to buy, ebay permitting! Might attempt my treeman next – I've got the really old citadel version rather than your good looking marauder minis. As for 3rd ed – what do they say about good things come to those who wait
Going to have to wait a bit longer myself – once I've painted the elves up I've got my old 3rd ed. orcs to resurrect, mend and finish painting/repainting! |

3rd ed was the zenith of the Warhammer arc, IMHO. I played 2nd ed to death and happily embraced 3rd when it came along. All downhill from there

This thread has put so many thoughts in to my head. I have an old 1980's GW Brettonian army that I have been stripping the paint off with the intention of selling. Now I am having second thoughts and might do a resurrection myself. This is the era of GW stuff I really liked, not had any interest in their more recent figures with perhaps the exception of thier blood bowl stuff and the new space hulk game. Chris |

Now I'm really jealous – always wanted a big 80s Bretonnian army after I saw the pics in the old 3rd ed. Warhammer Armies book! Minis seem very thin on the ground and expensive though for massed ranks of peasants and rapscallions
Resurrect it! |

mmmm. Zoatage. Hard to find non-recasts nowadays. I even got one which was genuine upper body, recast lower once. I have a couple unpainted here that you have inspired me to paint. Thanks for the nudge. (Noticed in Warhammer 40k rogue trader that tyranids used to feed their zoats Zoatibix.) |
