I'd love to order more of their stuff But I keep hearing that the company has "issues." Are they safe to order from? Can anyone provide any input pro or con?

Thanks,
Dennis

I had no issues with them. I received my order a few weeks ago.

No new releases is the "Big" issue, i think there may be some stock issues aswell but a quick email should prevent any disappointment there :)

definately safe to order from tho, i've never had a bad experience with Ian.

I think it is more an issue of no new releases for a good 6 months rather than service

Great figures, fantastic choice of conflicts covered, never had a problem ordering from Crouchie in the UK and the yahoo group used to be good for discussion, pics of greens and info.

On the down side – apart from 5 packs(?) of African mercenaries released around Salute earlier in the year (which I never bought because who knows if the range will ever be complete) there has been nothing from this company since it was taken over by Ben Checota well over a couple of years ago. Furthermore, despite making promises to be more available on his yahoo group he never actually was and you might as well howl at the moon for all its worth.

Overall its just incredibly frustrating to see fantastic pics of greens and hear about projects in the pipeline (ie buildings to go with the Africa mercenaries range) but to never see anything. You can post something on TMP every month about Mongrel and you might get someone coming along and saying they'll speak to Ben at the next convention. However, nothing ever happens.

Its incredibly frustrating and a massive shame for fans of 28mm modern gaming but thats the situation as I see it. No doubt someone will be along shortly to say how Mongrel is alive and well!

I would love to say Mongrel are alive and well, but sadly they're not, Crouchie does an amazing job at the UK end, and he has been let down very badly by the current owner, who is in the USA. There are new models out there, that have just not been sent to the casters.
Its not a great state of affairs ;0[[[[

No problem ordering from Crouchie in the UK, and the figures are rather nice

Maybe Mr Hicks will know whats going on? I presume he still sculpts for Mongrel?
