BigLee's Miniature Adventures Blog upate w/e 13th November. It's been a strange mixed up week for various reasons. The overriding theme though has been one of remembrance with this being the week of the Armistice and with a bereavement in the family. •With the UK's annual Guy Fawkes night out of the way I am now looking towards Christmas. So I have started to work on my Christmas List [ link ] •My gaming group dug out an old copy if Dungeonquest and found it as enjoyable to play now as it was 20 years ago [ link ] •I have started a new Flames of War painting project but discovered a missing part in the M10 3" GMC set I bought. [ link ] •In Greedy Eyes I revel the perils of being a gamer dad [ link ] •I have posted several articles this week about the Armistice & Remembrance ceremonies. [ link ] and [ link ] and [ link ]. •My daughter's school has actually organised a school trip to Ypres. Thankfully they have decided not to wimp-out or water down the experience and the kids will be visiting Hill 62 & the Tyne Cot Cemetery [ link ]. I have started on a new project and I hope to finish this relatively quickly. After all I need to make room for Santa to leave me more miniatures. BigLee Blog link |

Imosing and interesting as the other monuments at Ypres are, it is the Menin Gate that gets to people. |

They may be doing that as well. To be honest the info from the school was vague until today. My Daughter texted me from the coach to tell me where exactly they were going. I'm just glad the school is running this trip. I did WWI History when I was at school but the class next door – which included my future wife – skipped WWI in favour of "the History of medicine"
She managed to go through her whole school career without ever learning about either World War. |
