They look very nice! I have found a magnifier very helpful (although I am registered blind and couldn't see the figures without it!). Other than that the best advise I can give is to look through the blogs of the other fellows on here and pick up ideas. I found this quite helpful: link Pete |

The figures look great as they are mate. I might be tempted to give them a black or dark brown wash just to bring out the sculpted details but it's hardly essential. Personally with Napoleonics I think it's better to have lots of neatly painted units than a few collectors standard units that don't provide enough to play with. The only other advice is maybe to get stuck into the scruffy line units to start with and then when you have mastered your painting (to your OWN satisfaction of course!) you can then do the snazzy Guard types and go to town on them. Figures look really nice. Though you did do something I did years ago with the hat braids being gold. They were usually a non-metallic color such as white (common), red, or yellow. Other than that, you are doing well. |

thanks all Ill look again at the hat braids. I also have on order a cote de arms black super shader to see if i can pick out highlights better, my next battalation should have them on it and it if works, ill finish off the rest |

I like super shader although I also like my homemade concoctions as well.. My methods for most figures now is paint bold and bright and shade with a wash, fast and efficient. Sometimes just to be clever I may then add a highlight or two but from 60cm or so (normal viewing distance) it isn't worth it in 15mm. Graham |

Looks good to me – I am a recent convert to shading and have not yet tried it on my 15s, but it works great with 25s |

"With over 100 infantry to paint, I took the plunge and have decided to give outsourcing ago." tee hee. well done, playing is priority. I sometimes whish I took that advice. Usually in summer. On wet evenings, however, I'm quite happy to see an unpainted lead pile when I get home. 100 x 15mm is really not that much, when you get into the swing of things. |

Nice work. Your bases would look nicer and more regular if you painted the edges green. |

Scally, You may want to check some of your reference books on French uniforms. Otherwise they look fine, maybe a matt varnish ? Regards, |
