I'm looking to buy suitable dinosaurs for 20mm gaming. Is there a size chart that I can base my purchases on? Most toys I see seem to be of mixed scales and I have no idea how an adult triceratops for example would look like next to a 20mm human. Is there a site that has tackled this before?

Any 1/35 scale Dino's or smaller should work. Many Dino books have a human silouette beside the dino's. Saurian Safari also does. I recently went to the Museum Center's national Walking with Dinosaurs exhibit. The dino's move and make sounds. They ARE way larger than I would have thought.

Thanks,

John

1/35 for 20mm?

Actually, I was talking about 25-30mm size figs. If your 20mm figs are really 24-26mm then yeah, they'd likely still work. If you are talking about 19-20mm figs I am not as sure. Maybe 15mm dino's from QRF?

Thanks,

John

David Krentz makes dinos that are 1/72 scale. These are all one piece resin models made to museum quality

I have wanted these for a long time, but have stupidly never gotten around to ordering them. Maybe I'll pick some up for Christmas.

Oh, and many of the Kaiyodo Chocosaurs are a good match for 20mm. Especially both versions of their allosaurus, the styracosaur, triceratops, and sachiana.

Maybe I will post some pics next to 20mm figures in a few days

Have an illustrated size comparison chart in their files section. Its exactly what you are looking for.

The Antediluvia set is really nice, but expensive and fragile. He also make pewter version of some of the dinos that are not much more expensive but a lot more robust.

I'd suggest Ral Partha 25mm dinos as slightly larger specimens as well.

About this big: link

Maybe 15mm dino's from QRF,/i>

Ours are actually pre-dinosaur Triassic creatures, so on the smaller side. One of these days I may have to add a Jurassic range…

Terrement:

Sounds cooky no? Hehe, the whole thing started from cooking up a project in 20mm designed to use bits of models I didnt use for my current projects, namely half of the seven or so HAT Sea Peoples boxes. you could see that project here:http://meninboxes.blogspot.com/2009/06/army-worthy-of-mordor-irony-of-hat.html

With a recent purchase of 20mm colonials for a Peshawar Lancers-like setting a friend suggested we add elements of dinotopia: dinotopia.com

Keeping everything in scale would help us add gaming values per creature and keep it universally consistent amongst our collections.Especially if we start making warmachines, howdahs and stuff for the dinos.
