From what I have read, Austrian Hussars, Uhlans and Dragoons remained pretty much the same uniform-wise from mid-1790s until at least 1805. That sound right?

Looking to use Foundry Hussars, Uhlans and Dragoons for 1796-97.

Not correct. I am not an expert, but even Osprey shows very different headgear in 1798. Heavies wore tricorns, chevauleger wore an odd leather casque.

The classic greek type helm was adopted in 1803.

Nuts. Trying to fill out my Rivoli OOB and can't find Cavalry figs to match Eurekas line. I was hoping Foundry Austrians would do.

Mirlitons are going to be too small I am concerned.

Perhaps I could use SYW Austrians?

I have SYW Austrians and cuirassiers could serve, but with some models you may have to build a plume.

Secondly, no cheveau-leger of your period can be found in the SYW.

Dragoon hats were more a bicorne than tricorn; possible British figures may help, but the shabraques are squared rather than tapered as per your time frame.

Hussar hats were different and not cylindrical as in the later period.

Uhlans, none with chapkas.

See the Vinkhuijzen plates for your period and judge for yourself:

Aren't the cheveau-leger and Dragoons the same uniform just different colours? IE the same casting suits both.
