Battle of Navara, S-Holstein, 1849 – Hollow lead traditional soldiers

Anyone go for the 'old school' style hollow lead soldiers? I've got a few and wondered what it would be like to be H.G.Wells or Gerald Durrell playing on the carpet but with rules.

This is the Continental Wars Society, Traditional lead soldiers, Battle of Navara, S-Holstein, 1849. 42mm.

Hope you like it.

As I recall, Cacadores, you usually post near endless pages of pics. This time only one. I love the pics -- especially the buildings and the patchwork quilt style ground-cover! But I feel a little frustrated. I want to see more!

Thanks very much for posting -- and the "traditional hollow lead armies" look quite impressive to me, and perfectly at home with the tabletop terrain!

Where can one get the patchwork cloth, please?

The figures in those pictures are ""Shiny Toy Soldiers" available from Spencer Smith, not hollow-lead ones…

The game was run at Salute 2009, some more pictures here:

Well, they looked like hollow lead. Friendly players at any rate.

It was supposed to be remake of the The Battle of Novara fought between the Austrian Empire and the Kingdom of Sardinia in Italy, but transposed, it seems, to south Denmark.

Something about these guys that hit the mark with me. I had no idea this was out there!

Folks – being a member of the Continental Wars Society (even though I didn't make Salute this year) – I can give you some details.
It was the battle of Novara (in Italy, from the First War of Liberation – nothing to do with Schleswig Holstein!)
The figures were indeed from the "Shiny Toy Soldiers" range, buildings all scratchbuilt, based on actual buildings that appear on contemporary pictures of the battle.
The patchwork cloth was a curtain off-cut from a fabric shop – so I'm afraid I can't tell you more than that Arthur!
If anyone is interested to know more, then we appear elsewhere on TMP, see the link below (still current)

''It was the battle of Novara (in Italy, from the First War of Liberation – nothing to do with Schleswig Holstein!)''

Well, one of the Salute judges was told it was Schleswig Holstein by one of the blokes playing it and as I was there I even wrote it down while he was looking – maybe the player didn't know himself or he was pulling his leg! Lovely looking game anyhow, Mr Dury. I've put a link to your thread up on that site too.
