I'm planning to make some containers

but I was wondering does anybody do plasticard that is the same or similar shape to the sides of the cargo containers

Dunno about plasticard, but AT-43 sets come with containers and there's some nice cardstock ones floating about on the Net. A Spanish Infinity site, maybe?

Good Luck.

I'd look at model RR stuff. US O scale is 1/48 scale, and fairly close to 30mm figure scale.

Damon.

I know your mentioning plastics but if you didn't know WorldWorks has sets that you can print out.

You can get them in single pack and in X4 stacks to fill larger areas.

They are quicker and easier made out of cardboard.

It is fairly easy to find corrugated cardboard for the sides. The ends can be in solid cardboard. I used florist wire for the locking mechanisms.

I built 40 for under $ 10.

I also made a few with open doors, which I can swap in. You could make them with hinges, but it was quicker just to make two versions.

I just buy them as O scale models. Or print paper ones.

Try here for paper models of a variety of cargo containers in 1:87 scale. (Make sure to click on the 'download english' link on the left side of the page.

I've modified them to 1:72 (20mm) scale for use in a future Somali Pirate Hijacking miniatures game. (Yes, I'm building a cargo container ship with lots of cargo containers. I'm building them in 'blocks' of containers so that one block appears to contain 25, 40' long containers, without building 25 separate containers. The ship will have about 8 of these blocks on the deck, 2 cranes, and the 'con' tower and living quarters.)

Toposolitario ( link ) has *free* paper models. They're a little mean on your color cartridges, so take them to Kinkos (and print them on A4 cardstock, they are not repeat NOT 8.5x11!). If you can't get A4 cardstock, printing them at about 95% works, but it's not perfect.
