How would you use this Spanish grenade?
Would you hold the sling(cinta) and throw the grenade, or was the wound sling just part of the safety mechanism?

Thanks very much for any info!

I thought they were French?

@ Connard Sage.
of course you're right.
It's only because I'm doing these for the Spanish Civil War that I said Spanish.

Hello! the Spanish used a lot of slings to throw their grenades to longer distances so it was common to see the slings hanging from belts etc.as par of the soldiers gear.

Yes, I've noticed that, but what I meant was would they have wound the sling round their wrist or simply grab the end of it and sling it that way?
The Lafitte grenade was issued with a sling that was wound a few times round the grenade body, but apparently you first had to remove some arming mechanism?
Or was it perhaps the sling that activated the grenade?
Somewhat like the French 1847 'Bracelet' bomb used in WWI.

What scale are you using?
I wound venture in just slinging it away, since we´re talking about exploding devices but a more experienced trooper might have more elaborated slinging skills.

28mm. I'm converting some 70 Woodbine Turks to regular Spanish infantry.

The Turks are equipped with German stick grenades, so these will have to go as well.
