Anyone know of a source, other than Ready to Roll (I hate those bases) for a 20mm Jumbo Sherman?

If you don't mind *some assembly required* this just might be your ticket. link

milicast

How do the two scale? Some are smaller than others, thus why I ask. Isn't Milicast (really nice model) considered 1/76th? Sorry, I am scale nazi and like the 1/72, so just asking. I couldn't find a photo of the BP one either. :-(

Here's one of the BP Cast showing the large hull:

A little crude, but very sturdy. I replaced the soda-straw 105 barrel with a 76.

Thanks for the photo of the BP one. Does it only come with a 105?

Murvihill14 Nov 2009 8:13 a.m. PST

Mine did, but it was just a soda straw. According to Chamberlain and Ellis it was a 75mm gun (maybe that's what the straw was supposed to be), and a few were converted to 78mm in theater.

I agree, most were the short barrel 75mm, but you are right, they did convert a few to the 76mm gun, which wasn't that big of an upgrade.

Any thoughts on the Milicat scale, compared to 1/72 vehicles?

Couple of ready sources for 1/72 scale:

The EXM kit appears to be all in one model kit with the MR models conversion for an M4A3 Italeri kit. Don't know why the conversion kit would cost more than the whole EXM kit. The page gives little details but it does have photos.
Also, Dragon plastic kits (DML) (and not the ready-made die cast versions) have one coming out sometime in 2009 if you're willing to wait. Kit #7272 Sherman Jumbo

Thanks for the info. I can wait. :-)
