I just finished a brief run on the Evony website (Multiplayer not quite fantasy, but not quite historical [gamey techniques *] game) and was wondering where I would find games (single on multiple player) online that allowed for building cites in a historical setting. More interested in building cities, armies, and developing resources in some kind of ancient to pre-gunpowder era type setting.
I am looking for a game/site where you are more concerned about the game process and development than dealing with no job teenyboppers whose whole focus in proving how great they are by using gamey techniques (and the ability to be online without other commitments like jobs, spouses, and kids) to build up armies to bash new/smaller players for no other purpose than self-ego stroking and trash talking. Not that happened a lot in evony but their presence was fairly detracting to the experience. Most of the game experience in Evony was adequate and most of the people there were fine but the game just not something that struck the proper note in my soul.
Suggestions?
Gracias,

* things like sending 10K archers, 1 cataphract, 1 cavalry, 1 swordsman, 1 pikeman, 1 warrior, and 1 worker which requires your opponents 25K "whatevers" to spend 6 turns killing your singletons (1 turn per category) while your 10K archers get 6 free rounds of fire.
