Hi folks, this is the first time I've used Battle Chronicler to attempt a reasonable game description: caliban-somewhen.blogspot.com I hope it reads well. The link for Battle Chronicler is: battlechronicler.com It is a little bit buggy, but it has some useful features, including an automatic army points calculator when you export it to text, for those who lke that sort of thing. Cheers to all |

Caliban, thanks for the link to Battle Chronicler, definitely looks like a useful piece of software. I've been using a combination of Photoshop and Visio for battle reports, but this app is much more handy already in beta stage. |

Hi Minondas, I've been trying to think of ways to get Battle Chronicler to accept images of figures. The only way I can do it is incredibly time-consuming, which is to take top-down photos of units and import them to the program as though they were terrain. But then I would have to make up every single battle turn differently by moving the "units" as though they were terrain. It could end up looking really good, but I don't have the time or the energy to do something like this. Just taking photos of games would be simpler, but the lighting in our games hall just isn't up to it, which is a real shame. Still Battle Chronicler is a relatively clean way to make deployment maps

IMO photos have their own drawbacks – I don't think I have ever seen an online AAR that managed to represent "whole picture" with just the photos. They are absolutely the best way to represent the visual aspect of a game, but do not translate well into a blow by blow description tool. That's why I was so happy to see Battle Chronicler, because it allows me to reach the goal that I tried to reach on my blog. link link |

I know what you mean about photos. I followed the links to your blog, and I think I can see how you would want to give Battle Chronicler a try; here's hoping that as it develops it becomes more and more useful. Please keep us up to date with how you get on with it
