I just noticed that GHQ has released a pack of 10mm Iron Brigade figures: link I thought I'd bring it up since I don't remember them announcing this as an upcoming release at all, so it kind of came out of nowhere, and others might not have noticed the release. I know I've been hoping for quite a while that they'd do some Iron Brigade figures. There are also Infantry in Frock Coats scheduled for release early next year, as well as some additions to the Napoleonic line. And the charging USA and CSA cavalry they released a few months ago is really nice. |

They really are the best 10mm ACW figures, though they are on the true-10 side, unlike others that are 12mm. If they are going to continue the line, I might jump in. |

I have over 6,000 of the GHQ figures painted and mounted. They are my favorites. In fact, I have compared the GHQ 10mm Artillery Pieces to my 28mm and they are better in proportion and detail. I have just ordered some of the Iron Brigade and they can also substitute for 1861 early 62 US Regulars. I intend to use them for late war Heavy Artillery units as fought in the overland campaign of 1864.The Frock coated figs with Kepis will be excellent for 1861-62 CS as well as being mixed in with the Hardee-Hat wearing figs in US Regular units. |

I've always been a fan of their 10mm figures, both ACW and Nappy.. From a fledgling sculptor's point of view, they set a very high standard in both quality of their sculpts, and quality of their castings. Did I say fan? I should rephrase – 'incredibly jealous' may be better

GHQ does make excellent figures. I have quite a few of them, and you can see some of them on my blog here: link I am quite envious of ACWBill having 6000 of their figures painted. I doubt I'll ever have that many figures of any kind all painted. Do you have any pictures of them online anywhere, ACWBill? I'd love to see them, I'm sure it would be very inspirational. |

Albino, great painting. What size base are you using? I prefer 1"x1" for ACW. Just wondering how many figs would fit. I've been working on a 15mm ACW project but it's dragging its feet badly. I sold of my Pendraken ACW because I didn't like them. |

There are some pics in the GHQ forum and also on our club website. soflgamers.org In fact, I have a bunch of pics on the "Game Pics" link thumbnailed. The ones on top are Fredricksburg, which I am running this weekend. The ones on the bottom of the page are of Shiloh, which I ran at HMGS South Hurricon in Sep. There are also a bunch of ACW pics on the background. |

CPBelt, those bases are 3/4" square for the infantry, and I put 8 figures in 2 ranks. On 1" square bases you could easily fit 10 infantry figures. Possibly 12 if they were packed together base to base. My cavalry is on 1" square bases. Thank you, ACWBill. Those are great pictures. Very nice looking table. |

Hey, does anyone know if GHQ is planning on doing any more Iron Brigade figures in other poses? Seems unlikely, but I'd like to know if it's a possibility before I order any Iron Brigade as I'd like to have multiple poses if possible. And since they didn't announce these ahead of time, I don't know if they have more in the works. Is there any way of finding out? I'd post on the GHQ forums and ask there, but they never approved my membership. |

As far as I am aware GHQ haven't announced any plans to do more poses for the Iron Brigade. You can find a list of their future releases here: link I'd encourage you to have another go at registering on the GHQ forums – we need more horse and musket fans there (the board tends to be swamped with guys who want to talk about muzzle velocities of anti-tank guns rather than sensible chaps who want to discuss buttonhole lace and bricoles). I seem to remember having problems when I first tried to register. The boards can be a bit tempramental and I think it took two or three goes. |

AS far as using these for US Regulars, the overwhelming majority of images of US Regulars in the field, on campaign, show them wearing fatigue blouses and caps, not dress coats and hats. Even company officers are shown in many images wearing commercial blouses and private-purchase hats or caps. The commercial blouse is similar to an issue fatigue blouse (sack coat) but usually a tad bit longer, better material and tailoring, and often 5 buttons, rather than 4. In many cases the collar is more open so as to expose the shirt collar and tie, vice the higher-buttoning issue fatigue blouse. respects, |

We have just released the ACW-61 Advancing Iron Brigade. On Dec. 31 we will release ACW-62 Firing Iron Brigade, and on Feb. 28 we will release ACW-63 Skirmishing Iron Brigade. These are all listed in our catalog, and were announced in May. Thank you for your support, GHQ |

That's excellent news. Apologies GHQ. Don't know how I missed that! |

That is great news. Thank you! I don't know how I missed it, either. I don't see it online anywhere, but I guess they have them listed in the print catalogs. It looks like the 2009-2010 release schedule is great for the Civil War range. The two charging cavalry packs, the infantry in frock coats coming next year, and these three Iron Brigade releases all in the span of a year. I hope they keep it up. Another great addition would be to have a greater variety of sculpts in the officer packs. And if they turn their attention to the Napoleonic Russian line, I would no doubt be tempted into another project. |

Well I ended up buying both GHQ and Pendraken 10mm ACW. Although I ended up going the Pendraken route. They both look good but I found the Pendrakens easier to paint. The GHQ definitely have better sized artillery. I have a bunch of painted GHQ Union and CSA 10mm ACW I am going to sell shortly if anyone is interested. |
