They Saudis have imposed a blockade of the coast of Yemen in order to stop arms shipments from Iran to Shiite guerrillas operating in the country.

Recently, the Saudi Air Force struck ground targets inside Yemen, in support of government forces, who are battling the guerrillas.

Iran denies any involvement in supplying arms to the rebels, and decries the blockade.

They were however recently implicated in shipping 5,000 tons of arms to Hezbollah and Hamas, for use against Israel.

Israeli patrol boats interdicted the shipment in the Mediterranean, and noted that the origination point of the vessel was Iran, and markings on the weapons were Iranian.

Iran denies this as well.

The above would be good fodder for a naval wargame, or to add a bit of color to your anti-piracy/anti-smuggling skirmishes.

Throw in an Iranian Kilo SS, or two, and things could get interesting…..

Iran seems to be very active on a wide variety of fronts.

They certainly don't have anything to fear from anyone currently in charge of a major country.

A great land based game as well Special Forces (US or SAS) working with Yemeni government troops.

No problem we will whack those camel riding, goat herding, hill billy hicks and be back in time for lunch. OMG who gave them that…

It is about time Saudis started to use their expensive Air force and their less than stellar navy…
