While watching the game last night, I built my first Roman Seas ship, the Saxon Galley. The ships are surprisingly easy to put together. This is a prototype of sorts for me. I used 110 paper which is over the suggested weight. The problem I had using this paper is that the thickness actually throws off the model by a bit. The optional inner walls I added did not fit because the hull was thicker than the design. However, the small construction yields a very sturdy and good looking model.

1 question, should I go with 67 or 80 pound paper? I am leaning toward 67 but i was wondering what others build out of?

I went with 80lb paper, but I also tried 67lb paper too. Both seemed to work well with the Saxon Galley, especially since I inserted the inner wall art.

I went with 67 pound stock because the site said that was what the models were designed for. The inner walls will add thickness etc. I'll post my results when I get the next model built.

I like 110lb outside, and regular printer paper inside. 67lb seems too light and flimsy to me. But I started making them in 110lb, so its what I'm used to…
