Were these ever a "sanctioned" part of the game. Was there ever an official list. Unofficial list? On the same note, what minis did anyone use for them? Cheers. |

They had actual chaos cultist minis. They were an official part of the game in 2nd edition and in the Lost and the Damned list from the Black Crusade book they have a listing for traitors which these could fall under. |

The last unofficial list I can think of was in the Eye of Terror book, a combined mutant/cultist/traitor guard list. Now I think there's a semi-official list in either the Daemonhunters or Witchhunters book – I suspect the former. Miniature wise, every body has a different mental image. Forge World do some renegade figures (that's a point, there must be a renegade list in a FW book). Some Necromunda figures work – mutants and redemptionists, maybe Cawdor. Depends whether you want traitor guard style humans, mutants, coven-in-dressing-gowns look cultists or something else. |

In the previous edition of 40K the Alpha legion could take chaos cultists. In the new edition that army is nerfed, so no ALL INFILTRATING HQ, Troops, Heavy support for me now! I used WH chaos marauders with laspistols, bits of tech looking kit from the IG Cadian box and the odd chaos shoulder pad or Chaos marine helmet. |

Imperial Armour volumes 5,6 and 7 have Chaos Renegade army lists – each one with an increasing amount of Chaos wierdness and Marine warbands as the corruption spreads. Those books cost over £40.00 GBP a pop, and you might have trouble getting people to play you. Another option would be to use Imperial Guard, with a Psyker Lord as your HQ and stock up on Penal Legions, Conscripts, Ratlings and Ogryns. You could even take allies from the Witch Hunter or Daemon Hunter codexes, to represent other Chaos cahracters (rather ironically!) |

If you're open to non-GW miniature suggestions, I'd look at Pig Iron Ferals for a starting point. |

This link on Dakka-Dakka seems to be the same as the one from the Lost and Damned force from the Black Crusade campaign booklet: link Two miniatures from Mageknight need a ranged weapon swap or conversion, but otherwise, they fit the bill well: Cult Enforcer: auction and Blood Cultist: picture |

They have a list on the Apocolypse portion of the GW site for the Lost and the Damned. The figs they show on the PDF file look like converted mutants more than cultists. Otherswise, I believe the Lost and the Damned in the Eye of Terror is no longer "official" and is not to be used (however, we game it all the time and have lots of fun!). By the way, those Renegade pieces from Forgeworld really are as nice as they look on line. My same friend uses the Cadian parts and combined with the Renegade pieces make a fantastic looking traitor guard. Erik |

Currently I am using the Warhammer Empire Flagellants for my chaos cultists. Put some cadian arms on them or you can use las pistols and various other weapons with the flagellant arms. Either way they look like good chaos cultists. |

The moist recent codex list that still vaguely stands is the "Heretical add-ons" section in the Witchhunters Codex. This is also the same set of add-ons I would use to field a "current" version of the Genestealer Cult. |

I use these guys with weapon swaps for mine. link I still use the L&D list from the eye of terror book for my chaos army against my sons space marines. |

All good suggestions. Money permitting right now, I am liking the looks of Necromunda Redemtionists, Cawdore gangers, and Catachan jungle troop converts. For plastic part mixers I might throw in some Wargames Factory shirtless Celts. For me, cultists just scream "autoguns"
.so I'll need to mix some of those in, along with some close combat weapons. |

Prince Rupert those are perfect for cultists! |

My younger sibling has a "Traitor Guard" army (pointed up as regular Imperial Guard). But he use Guard bodies with zombie and Skaven heads. Along with some beast men and Reich of the Dead figures. I painted up some of his "Traitor Guard" last year in exchange for a Khorne chaos space marine army he no longer wanted. But his "Traitor Guard" army is totally based off the newest Imperial Guard codex, though the ideas and paint jobs are very old school. |

Is there an Arbites list in either the Daemon hunter or the Witch hunter books? |
