these are the regulars vs insurgents rules by ambush alley. they have been expanded to include all 20th c. wars and regs vs regs. but a look at the rules and almost all examples continue to be iraq, most of the pics, etc. so i'm wondering if the rule's heart is in it for wwii.

Hey, Evil, I'll let others answer on whether or not they play with it or not, but I can at least tell you if our heart is in it –

The answer is definitely yes! We're hard at work on an exhaustive post-D-Day Normandy expansion as we speak, possibly to be followed up with an early war source book. Plans are in place for D-Day, Stalingrad, and Market-Garden source books as well.

We're taking WW2 very seriously and really want to make a name for ourselves with WW2 games!

We've played a couple of scenarios from the FoF rulebook – Normandy 1944 and Berlin 1945. We were pleased with the results and thought the rules worked very well. We used figures from our existing Command Decision collections (mainly 2 15mm figures per stand with some singles and casualty figures thrown in).

We're planning more FoF WW2 gaming in the next few weeks.

I bought Force on Force with the express intent of using them with my 15mm collection. I just haven't had time to actually do it. I need to order the card decks.

FoF has WWII rules in the book and we have used it a lot. I'd recommend it for WWII hugely, just check their forums and site for ideas to make the core vehicle rules feel more like the armour in WWII.

I like it too. Models friction pretty well, whether for WWII or for modern.

I plan to use FOF for WWII once I get more minis painted. So far the Germans are ready and I have some Soviets being painted for a friend, so hopefully by Christmas we will be having some Eastern Fron Fun with FOF.

I also own all the cards for the WWII version of FOF.

I've got lots more WW2 minis than moderns, so most of my playing FonF has been with WW2 troops.

Have been running games with the rules since Historicon.

I had been using a buddy's copy and finally bought my own at FALL IN this year. My favorite set of platoon level rules.

I'm running a Vietnam game at my club next week.

So far we have run the following with F-on-F for WW2…

Vichy French versus British in Syria

British versus Germans in Normandy

Soviets versus Germans in 1941

French versus Germans in 1940

… and finally Germans versus Irish in a fictional German invasion of Ireland!

Yes. I ran Watching Gerry from the rules book at a con earlier this fall, and another on the way this weekend. I change the Brits to US and add vehicles.

Depending on the crowd, the reaction system seems to make or break the game. So far, most like it though.

The system should really shine once the theater and campaign books start to hit the shelves.
