Ok so back in early October I asked a bunch of questions regarding minis from Battle Masters and the EM4 Plastic dwarves. Well just a little over a month later I am done purchasing and converting 2 whole armies made of them. Youcan see pics of them over here link Sadly all I have to take pics with is my cell phone, and I can never get lighting right with it. However they are good enough to show what I have been up too. As for the minis themselves I now know the following: -Battle Masters minis are compatable with the latest gw bits, as are the EM4 dwarves. -The EM4 dwarves have very little flash aside from a plastic plug on the back of each dwarf, and frequently on the back of the shields where the hand would go. This was only mildly annoying to deal with, and easily fixed with standard modeling tools of craft knives, plastic clips, and pin vices. -The Detail on the EM4 dwarves while a little soft is very good. Especially the armor. I was very pleased with them, especially considering how cheap they are. -The plastic of both the EM4 and Battle Masters minis is easy to work with, you can clip, glue, drill and fill without any weirdness going on. -The EM4 & Battle Masters minis are of a similar scale with whats out there today, and as long as you keep them together as an army and dont mix in too many mini's from other sources, they will look good fighting against just about any other army made of 28mm minis. Thats pretty much all I can think of off the top of my head, I hope you all enjoy the pics, and if you have any questions feel free to ask. Cheers Oninotaki |

Nice work! What sort of arms did you use for converting the Empire troops? |

Those arms are from warhammer fantasy 6th edition empire troops. I have to admit I was rather pleased on how diverse they could look with just an arm swap. Same thing with the dwarves. For them I got units consisting of halberdiers, spearmen, great weapons/two-handed weapons, crossbows, handguns/rifles, and hand weapons(axes, maces, hammers, and picks), all from just 3 poses of dwarves. 1 with a crossbow, 1 with a spear, and 1 with a two-handed axe. Oh and before I forget they are all based for the home brew rule set that me friends and I use, so their basing doesn't really work for any other system without using movement trays. |

Yes, your conversions do definitely give them a great deal of life. I especially like the one is "at ease" with weapon resting on the shoulder. I've thought about doing the same with the BM Empire troops but using Militia arms. I was concenred, though, that those arms would be too big for the bodies. I may have to rethink that now! I have 1 militia arm on and its the arm carrying the curved sword and wearing an armored sleeve. It matches up very well, so I say give it a shot. Especially considering how cheap a copy of battle masters is. I picked up 3 copies for about $60, $90 USD or so with shipping, and its given me a huge army of knights, bowmen, crossbowmen, chaos warriors(that I have just removed the skulls from and treat as foot knights) spearmen, swordsmen, and heavy infantry with warhammers. All in all between mantic games elves, battlemasters, and em4 dwarves I got 3 large fantasy armies of men, elves, & dwarves that all look distinct with lots of variety for less than $300 USD including shipping. Color me impressed! I have some ideas on how to get better lighting on the pics and will try to get them up by wednesday if it works. |
