Hi everyone;
Looking through the "Fall In" guide Saturday morning, a couple of us came across a game titled "Flames on the Rhine", dealing with Pre-30 Years War combat between Dutch led Protestants against Spanish led Imperial Catholics.
We had no idea about the rules, called "With Faith and Pike", but we like the period and so gave it a try.
We were very glad we did too.
The Game Master and developer is TMPs own "Morning Scout" known in the real world at Frank Capotorto.
There were six players, none who had ever played the game.
Frank and his partner did a great job explaining the rules, basic overview to start and then as situations came up.
The 15mm terrain and miniatures were great.
I loved the look of my Spanish Tercios as they trundled across the field towards the Protestant lines.
Unfortunately the Protestant Artillery also liked it and sent a constant barrage their way.
The rules were simple, quick play, but gave us a good feel for the period.
All dice rolls were with a D10 and any casualty was a stand loss and a possible hold marker on the unit as they struggled to keep it together.
Frank made everybody comfortable, answered all of our questions and kept the game moving right along.
Both sides had losses but the Imperials took the worse of it.
As far as I know, these rules are not published yet, but I think they should be.
So thanks again to Frank (Morning Scout) for hosting a fun, relaxing game.

If Frank (Morning Scout) reads this, please contact me offline at wpmchenry@charter.net to discuss. I am focused more on the post-Rocroi period, but am looking for a fast-play system for large battles in 15mm and this review certainly speaks favorably to yours. Perhaps we can share some ideas.

Hi Bill;
I enjoyed looking through your blog.
very good work, which I will use as a reference for TYW.

I hope you and Frank can work something together.
Joe
