Lord Ashram, Nice pictures! I read in your blog that one of your pet peeves is gnomes. Your post is about nice looking games and the gnome game was one of the best looking set-ups and well attended events at Fall In. At least he puts some effort into his conventions. OH10

I have to admit, the gnome bit is something of a joke; just a nod to the historical purist aspect of the convention. It is indeed always a good looking game. |

I've seen quite a few good looking tables that used largely felt to designate fields, rivers, roads and forests. We can't all be professional railroad modelers or landscape architects. At the other end of the spectrum, Dave Bonk's American Rev terrain looks pretty spiffy. |

Nice Pictures. The last one was a WWII Atlantic Wall game. I played that one on Friday night and had a good time. Lots of troops and landing craft, a nice table, a fun group of players, and the GM's did a nice job explaining things. I think the GM's did a repeat game on Saturday as well. |

The ACW photo near the end labeled, "Here is another 15mm ACW game that looked nice" is of my Prairie Grove, Arkansas (7 December 1862) game from Friday night. The scenario covers the eastern half of the battle where Union Brig. Gen. Herron attacks the Confederate position on the woods covered hill with two small divisions before Blunt arrives with his larger "Kansas" division further to the west. Last month I visited the state park in Arkansas and tried to incorporate all that I had learned to recreate the historical battlefield. I plan to run Blunt's attack at Cold Wars. Mark |
