Hey all, just received my order of 15mm from gzg: a company of New Israelis plus heavy weapons, and four Cougar MBTs. Really nice job with the troops, although there was more flash than expected on the tanks. Nothing that couldn't be cleaned up with an exacto knife, so no problem there. I'm basing the company off of a modern US airborne rifle company, but I don't know yet who they'll be fighting. (Probably find out at Christmas.) ;) Right now the Israelis are paired with the Cougars, but given the high-tech nature of the Israeli equipment, I may switch them to the other side and issue them some grav vehicles instead. We'll see, it all depends on how the scenario shakes down. Anyway, the Israelis and the Cougars fully met or exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend them to any sci-fi gamer. |

Have you tried Stargrunt at the company level? In my experience, the game starts to bog badly with that many troops on the table. I would suggest trying FWC or maybe FAD rules for games of that size. That's just me, your mileage may vary. |

The whole point is to try it out. I've posted about this before and gotten different responses and opinions. Lots of people have suggested FAD, and I've taken a look at it, but honestly, I really don't think it's my speed. I like the stargrunt system, so we're going to try it with that. If that falls flat, we'll take a look at other options. |

I'm with you, I like the Stargrunt system a lot too. If you get it to work at this level, be sure to let us know. CB |

Definitely! If it works. I'd be happy to hear about things other people have tried, or problems you've had and ideas to overcome them. I'll be posting occasionally with ideas and comments, so you'll be kept "up-to-date" as it were. |

Search online for "company level stargrunt", there are some pretty simple modifications you can make to play at that higher level with larger forces. See for example: link |

I've been kicking around company-level Stargrunt modifications. Basically, replace individual figures with fire teams. Activate platoons instead of squads. There's more to it than that, but that's it in a nutshell. |

Where it gets really hairy is using company commanders to re-activate platoon commanders who then re-activate squads
You get some LONG turns that way, and it gets hard to keep track of everything. Its easy to disallow though, or you can just roll with it. |

Having an entire platoon suppressed seems odd, too. |

It's all about the number of elements. Whats your company?? Is it a mixed force battle group, ODST, or mechanised infantry in apcs with cross attached armour? use the quick play option for fire resolution. Where I'm going with my 15mm scifi is to ditch the old Nato/Warpac Toe's,use drones for light armour with my airborne or base your airborne/airlanded battle group around an airlift capability. Create your own unit specific quick ref sheets it saves routing through the book. The main thing is to have fun and game!!!! All the best Guy T orig external SG2 play tester. |

Or could you just play Dirtside 2 in 15mm? |
