With those Zandris IV Imperial minis I am interested in your thoughts of which rules could best replicate the feel of the battles in Legend of Galactic Heroes?

The way they fought in the series is hard to represent in tabletop miniatures.

"Hyperspace Hack", given the number of ships present in LOGH

Well you don't have to use a 1 ship one model level. ship=1 squadron can permit you to fight smaller actions (300-500 ships per side).

Even with out that ship to ship combat would be interesting (it happened in the novels, they just don't focus on it)

Ancient Empires, or, perhaps, DBM. Seriously! The sheer numbers involved, and the grand tactics – it all feels and looks like huge formations, sweeping across the battlefield (battlespace?) like massed ranks of legionaries.

Generic Outlandishly Big Spacefleets! or G.O.B.S.! is designed for huge fleets, but it expects individual ship action rather than massed formations. thegobspage.com

Battleshift, by the creator of Armies of Arcana, is built around a system of formations. Unfortunately, the Thane's Games website no longer seems to exist. There's an archive here: link
(Thanks to the Starship Combat News for the link.)

If you want to see what else is out there on the web, take a look through the Starship Combat News web site. The forums are currently off-line, but the list of commercial games and web-available games is always available and a great place to look. star-ranger.com
