I'm looking to field some navy figures in Operation Sealion scenarios. Does anyone know of a manufacturer who makes suitable figures ?

The ideal figures would be wearing 08 or 37 webbing and armed with SMLEs but I can always convert/bodge the details.

Try Raventhorpe who do a couple in their WW1 range in sailor caps – all rifle armed. They sell separate steel bowlers heads as well.

If your not too fussy I suppose you could always use Kriegsmarine or Soviet Naval marines, Its only the weapons you`ll need to watch?

FAA do Soviets

Kelly`s heroes do both Kriegsmarine and Soviets, I suppose a Mauser could look like a Springfield .03 if you don`t look too close. Kelly`s also have a figure armed with a MP28, didn`t the Navy have Lancaster SMGs at one time?

You could always paint up standard British infantry as wearing blues too I guess.

Great figures those but no combat poses and to my wallet very expensive at £5.25 GBP for 3 figures?

Thanks to everyone. All good suggestions.

I'm a bit of a `metal snob' so am going to order some ratings from Raventhorpe and splash out on some Gunthwaite officers – as they are 1/72nd hopefully they will mix in OK with the Raventhorpe figures.

Hi

Dave, I plan to produce one or two RN boarding party sets plus RN Commandos in the Gunthwaite range. However, the pace at which I work means that these will take some time to emerge. The poses are likely to be casual rather than 'action'.

Cheers

Al

I've ordered and received (very quickly) The Raventhorpe figures – they are nice figures though are wearing an older pattern of webbing than 1908. However they are fine for the `use whatever we've got' summer of 1940.

I hadn't got around to ordering The Gunthwaite officers but have just done so now. I'm sure I can cram pistols in their hands or sling rifles over their shoulders.

Al – I'd certainly welcome boarding party figures. Maybe there is a `middle ground' between casual and action poses that would satisfy both the ship modellers and us wargamers e.g. walking rather than standing and hands out of pockets ?

Dave, I will bear that in mind.
