Hi all I've updated my blog again! This time I've added pictures of the VICTRIX 28mm Peninsular Brits, painted up as the 33rd: link That's two Brit Regiments down, and about 10 more to go! I've also done the 44th. Please feel free to comment! Cheers trailape.blogspot.com |

You don't muck around mate. At least these are plastic. Otherwise I'd be worried that Australia would tip over with the weight of your collection. They should station you in Alice Springs to avoid mishaps. How much have you done so far this year? They are nice figures. How was the assembly? Try budgie grit for your basing. It is fantastic stuff. Made from crushed sea shells. |

Hi Neil Not sure on what I've painted thus far this year.. I'm making up for the one and a half years of painting I didn't / couldn't do following the death of my two siblings and my mum. I'll have another 24 MINDEN MINIATURES knock over tonight i hope, and about 36 AB Miniatures Bavarian, Italian and Austrian Cavalry done by Sunday,
I'm on a roll. Also, having no funds for a painting service is a good motivator! :^O I will be getting some of your Pre-painted OG 2nd Edition though! :o) Assembly? Not to much of a chore actually. I think the trick is to have an organised assembly line sorted before hand. Then it's just a matter of attaching / glueing the parts together. Thanks for the Grit Tip! Cheers trailape.blogspot.com |

Trailape, My bases look a lot like yours with coarse sand from our nearby beach and budgie grit from the pet shop to add variety but I got the 32nd regiment's colours in my box of Victrix and the 32nd, from Cornwall, had white facings, like your 33rd. Did you get the flag of the 33rd in with your Victrix figures? |

Nice job in getting the red to really stand out given the use of black undercoating. How large are your regiments and which rules are you using them for? |

Hi Woundedknee The 33rd flag came with the VICTRIX FLANK COY box I believe. I will be doing the 32nd Regt eventually. The next VICTRIX unit I do will be FRENCH however. Probably the 2nd Line. DAF My British will vary from a min 32 to amax 40 figs per Battalion. My French will be a min of 24 to 32 figs in size. Rules? SHARP PRACTICE and GDB or Lasalle are my 28mm rules of choice. Cheers |

Hi Trailape. Steve Hales from Victrix here. Firstly well done on the painted British, they look really nice. A quick question. you say that the flags are from the Victrix boxed sets? However they do not look like the flags I designed? They are very different. I am hoping you have just made an error and they are a different manufacturers flags. But if they came in the box you bought, can you let me know who you bought the figures from please? as it may be an issue I need to follow up. If you can send me an email to info at Victrix or lbms would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Steve. |

Very nice job, I only have 4 more to do, before I've finished the 32nd |

Oooooops! Steve's correct! :^O The Brit flags are the ones from the PERRY Plastics. My only defence is I'm losing my mind from assembly of about 1000 plastics! ;o) I ran it past the editor and,.. (oh, that would be me),.. Anyway, to make amends, The VICTRIX Nap French flags can be seen here: link (and they are BRILLIANT)!! The shield transfers shown here are also LBM BTW: link Ammendments made at blog! Sorry! :o( Cheers. |

Cheers Trailape for letting me know. I was just concerned that some retailer was issuing different flags from those provided. Your Arthurians/Late Romans look nice also. Regards, Steve. |

Hi Steve I goes to show the "minefield" of stuff-ups that comes from the proliferation of BLOG based reviews! :^0 Again, sorry for the stuff up. The Late Romans look a lot better for the excellent shield transfers. Cheers! |

Scott, just an observation, but, did'nt the 33rd. have red facings rather than white? Ivan. |

Have you considering doing a dip on them? I think they would be RIDICULOUS looking if you did
it would really emphasize the shading and highlights. |
| trailape | 10 Nov 2009 11:43 p.m. PST |
Hi Guys Ivan: The 33rd had white facings according to my references. I'm happy to hear if someone can tell me otherwise and point me to a reference,.. Lord A: As for dips, I also have my doubts that they would look better than what I do at present. If it was quicker and only a slight change in apperance, I'd give it a crack, but I fear I'd just trash some figs. Dips probably would be fine for Ancients, but I'm not confident it would work all that well on napoleonics etc,.. Cheers trailape.blogspot.com |

This very talented chap gets some rather impressive results using dip on Napoleonics. (scroll back) saxondog.blogspot.com |

Ivan is not only reasonable but also correct – the 33rd had red facings. The 32nd had white facings. |

"the 33rd had red facings" Well me,
so they did. Hmmmm,.. so do I repaint all the cuffs n collars red, or change the Colours (flags)? What a bind I find myself in,
. Oh well, I intend on doing both the 32nd and 33rd, so I just paint the 33rd next, and then swap out the ensigns (and flags). Blog ammended! Cheers trailape.blogspot.com |
