Thoughts folks?

I not interested in FOW Vietnam but I will be buying those choppers. Awesome.

What a shame they are three months too late, I've already invested in "Nam", but at the 6mm scale.

Gods the Choppers are beautiful…and the figs look nice too….hmmm…Hueys in Bongolesia…..hmmmm…

Wondering if this is just a quick "one shot deal" or will they expand on this line….

Not really the right game system to do it, IMO, although Ia Drang is a better candidate than most.

The figures look pretty good, though, and the PAVN units especially so. I see a revival of RFCM's "Men of Company B" in the offing…

Interesting. I do hope that the choppers are 1/100 & not 1/144 though. The figures do look nice & not too prone to the BF Bighead syndrome.

I just painted up a bunch of figs for vietnam and based them for flames of war, it was just last summer. I saw sweet. Get this news out!

For a side project it's miles better than MWM….

I wonder if BF is going to blow off Early War and Pacific now??

From what I've seen this is just a side show, if they were really serious about it the rules wouldn't have been published in WI. Good on them, I'll reserve final judgment till I get my next copy of WI though.

The PAVN will do nicely for Dien Bien Phu, except for those wielding AK47s. I needed a few platoons of AAMGs too……

I had been wondering what happened to Flashpoint.

I'm in, but I'll probably go single basing for Ambush Valley. I like the US command figures.

I hope this isn't a limited one off release, altho' it smells like it at this stage.

Perhaps not the grinding day to day war Allen but there were plenty of large engagements that would be suitable to the FOW treatment.

Guys the link doesn't work for me but if it is what I suspect, those are the soon to be re-released Flashpoint Miniatures Vietnam range. Flashpoint have redone their packaging and some fo the sculpts. They have added the M113 and choppers to the line up. The choppers will be 1/100 or so not 1/144.

Those Hueys look fantastic and there was a distinct lack of Slicks out there in 15mm. Great job!

Yep.. I'm REALLY looking forward to this stuff. The sculpts (if done by Anton) will help expand my already hefty investment in the Flashpoint stuff. I'm curious to know though as it's not mentioned… are the choppers plastic and unpainted like FOW's vehicle range? The pics make them look like pre-painted die-cast though I know that's probably not the case. I like the clear rotor option. Nice touch.

they are cleraly not die cast and you can see washing, also look at the "glass" part they are clearly painted on.

Very good models too… i definelty see them entring my collection (so… 3 Italery 1/100 diecast Uh1 Slick… 1 Old glory 1/100 resin UH1 Hog/Frog… three of those… antoher gunship… Guys… I can made a massive 6 chopper lift witgh a full escort section… yuppieeeee!)

In the wargames market I'd have negotiated for two, but yes it could have expired. Or not been present at all. Assuming it is actually a competing range by the previous owner.

I'd definitely like to a closer look at the figures. It looks like they're wearing the "standard" Army uniform, rather than the "jungle" uniform. That would make them suitable for Central European summer battles as well…

no they're not the Flashpoint range figures…and the Hueys are definately 1/100 scale

Interesting… I think the Ambush Alley guys might want to expedite Ambush Valley!

I might be able to get some of the guys at the LGS interested if this is readily available (ie, through the store).

I think it best that I clarify a few things up for everyone, regarding the Wargames Illustrated release of Ia Drang! A LIMITED range of US and PAVN blisters for refighting battles in Vietnam, specifically emphasised – Ia Drang, is being released by Battlefront miniatures to be sold exclusively through their WI magazine website. The Ia Drang experience is NOT a new release into a different era from WW2, but a themed supplement, something Battlefront have said they would like to do a lot more off and in many different eras to support Wargames Illustrated website and magazine. See their website for confirmation of this – "These are the first WI Exclusives we have done" (Quote taken from the Flames of War website)

Ia Drang is a Battlefront Miniatures Ltd production with figures sculpted by Anton and the Weapons and Huey sculpted by Evan, from my understanding.

Siege Works studios are not in colloboration with Battlefront miniatures on this project.

Anton has NOT failed to comply with any legal and binding agreements with Siege Works Studios who purchased Flashpoint Miniatures off of Anton, early this year and in fact has upheld all commitments very honorably.

Siege Works Studios were aware of Battlefronts LIMITED intentions in this area and Anton has complied in all aspects of his agreements with said parties. (So can we please keep from bagging Anton regarding anything he has sculpted)The Ia Drang figures are very good and are very similar to the Flashpoint miniatures Vietnam range he sculpted as well.

It was Anton that sculpted all the Flashpoint miniatures for Vietnam, just like, I believe, he has done with Battlefronts' Ia Drang LIMITED release, so the figures in all aspects are very similar between Battlefronts Ia Drang and Siege Works Studios Flashpoint ranges.

Siege Works Studios does a complete range of Vietnam figures covering not only US Army and PAVN but all of the armies:

Well if it is a limited one time Vietnam release from Battlefront, it's a shame. I'd love to see some well proportioned VC, Anzacs and USMC. It looks like Anton has really come into his own on the sculpting front, as these minis are much better than his original works. Great work Anton!

I'm not bagging on the Flashpoint line, as I have a large collection of them. I hope the line successfully continues to grow and prosper. The greens of the villagers and ARVN look great from what I've seen.

No matter what the naysayers believe the FOW engine can work just fine for most if not all of the major battles of Vietnam. I won;t argue that it would need some tweaks and special scenarios to do so.

, I have just ordered a large amount of NVA and US troops from TAG , so wont be doing this again in 15mm . I will buy the Mag for a read though and possibly buy the markers.

Look nice but let down by the NVA recoiless rifle crew they appear to be looking at it rather than crewing it.

Anyone know which type recoiless rifle it is ?

Looks like it's supposed to be a B-10 or Type 65, but with some details exaggerated.

We are getting the RCL crew and other NVA weapons figures resculpted which is why none of the NVA Weapons packs are available yet. The RCL is a 106mm.
