Gents The troops I have in mind as units such as the South Staffs that were landed by glider along with the Paras. My question is this I use 20mm Britannia figures and what figures should I use to represent this. i. Infantry or Para or is there a range of airlanded infantry in 20mm from another manufacturer? cheers Phil |

Use Paras & remember to paint the correct badge on any wearing berets ;-) |

Yup, paras – they and glider troops dressed the same. |

However, US glider infantry wore ordinary infantry uniforms and "glider boots" as the paratroopers called them. I guess crash-landing in a powerless balsa-wood aircraft wasn't considered as dangerous as floating down on a nice silk parachute, so they weren't considered elite. |

"I guess crash-landing in a powerless balsa-wood aircraft wasn't considered as dangerous as floating down on a nice silk parachute, so they weren't considered elite." Umm by their nature gliders tended to drop troops in organized groups, while paras tended to end up on their own on a regular basis, so it makes sense to put your better soldiers in the paras. |

The US started paying glider troops the same as paras and allowed them to blouse their trousers over their boots after D-Day. The paras were shocked by the carnage cause by Horsas coming in too fast in fields that were too small and the storming of the La Fiere causeway convinced them that they were equals. |

"US glider infantry wore ordinary infantry uniforms and "glider boots" as the paratroopers called them" By OMG both US Paras & Glider Infantry were issued/wearing the 1943 uniforms & boots, caused quite a stink with the Paras as they lost their distinctiveness. |
