If I wanted some reasonably nicely sculpted 28mm Romans, say about 12 of them, where could I get some at a good price?

I saw Wargames Factory, but don't need 40 figures. Likewise, Warlord plastics, don't need 30 of them.

Assuming these are the iconic "Early Imperial" Romans of Trajan's Column and "Gladiator":

"Smaller" 28s: Foundry, or Imago Militis.

"Larger" 28s: Crusader.

Those would be my first choices. There are others, as the thread will no doubt inform you.

Black Tree are also larger 28's. Some Foundry Romans sculpted with pilum/shield and sword/shield as part of the casting without need to glue are also larger 28's

I should have mentioned Black Tree if you want any Asiatic auxiliary archers; those are excellent. I won't go any farther than that; even the sculptor is embarrassed by the range.

The one-piece, single-pose Romans sculpted by Mark Copplestone are the first few packs shown on the Foundry Web site.

If all you need is a dozen or so, feel free to drop me a line at aecurtisATgteDOTnet, and I can arrange for a few legionaries' enlistments to be curtailed, and the stress the Curtis lead hoard places on the San Andreas fault marginally reduced--and at a good price.

'ere; them are Steve Saleh's, Allen!

:-)

I like most of the BTD Auxiliaries, too, FWIW. But who collects Auxiliaries? I bet there's not one cohort of them out there for every five of legionaries.

There's a few (partha, ah believe) on ebay in 8 or 10 fig groups for five buckeroos (currently) ? Don't know how to insert the auction here :(

Ach, them oversize figures are all the same to me! grin

I like auxilia. Foundry auxilia.
