Hi,

I'm new to Napoleonic wargaming and am currently building up my French army of the Peninsular. I was looking for some advice to the colour of the locally produced Spanish cloth that was used to replace worn uniforms and as Shako covers etc

Would this cloth also be the same that was used by the 13th Cuirassier Regiment?

Thanks
Mark

Most would be brown in various shades. The British used it as well.

As noted, pretty much all various shades of brown, mostly mid to dark brown, and pretty coarse

There is a record of mustard yellow being used. I can't remember off the top of my head which regiment though. The soldiers were in such a poor state and urgently needed new clothing. The only cloth that could be found was a mustard yellow.

It was down to the regimental tailor to aquire new rolls of cloth and replace items of uniform.

That would be great to know if you could find the reference.
