BBC Radio 4 are broadcasting a programme about the female pilots in the Russian Airforce tonight at 8pm.

There is book with the same title, they were amazing pilots,flying against the Luftwaffe's best.

The Night Witches (588th Night Bombers) flew Po-2s, and would've been in very bad shape if they ran into the Luftwaffe. They mostly had to fear AAA.

The 586th Fighter regiment flew Yaks, and did do air-to-air.

At any rate, they were women who were far bigger badasses than most of us will ever be.

Dynamite Comics did a 4 issue mini-series last year about them. Good story.
