Having followed the recent threads on trains, what do those of you who know about such things think of this train:

that I found on the Wilkinson's website?

I haven't had much luck tracking down one of those nice Western Express ones that Walmart does in the UK :(

The fixed bogie wheels are rather, er, different. They appear to have a wider axle width than the driving wheels. Which is a bit of a problem if it's going to sit on rails…

Needs a more subtle paintjob too, but you knew that.

What scale is it?

adster01 Nov 2009 4:49 p.m. PST

If it's the one I have had a look at it's way over scale for 28mm. :(

Connard Sarge – Yes, those bogie wheels looked odd to me, too, but I am a self-professed ignoramus on matters railway.

adster – thanks for that; the store I went into did not have one. I'd even taken a figure for scale comparison!

Ho-hum, the UK search continues…

Mister Rab,
try this one from teamsters toys its 1/55 scale which is about right for 28mm. The one in the picture doesn't show any carridges. But the one I bought came with a carridge for £4.99 GBP so I bought 2 for the extra carridge.

Of course you still have to source a track but I built 6ft of track with balsa wood strips on hardboard bases not very difficult to do.

Those trains are too big for 28mm. Maybe if you are doing 40mm westerns the might work
