People have asked before about the Green Hornet and Kato from the Sixties TV series. There are castings from Pulp Figures that make acceptable characters for these two. here are my results: picture The chauffeur from one Pulp set was just painted as per Kato and had his hand worked on a bit to look more like like Kato was ready to "gung fu" someone; a ciggy was removed. A Pulp gangster figure was used as the basis for the Hornet with the pistol replaced with something better suggesting the Hornet Gas Gun or Hornet Sting. In the absence of an official figure line, these will make me happy. Ready for adventure! Except I now need a scale-model car I can fix up as Black Beauty. |

The Green Hornet's eye slits didn't show up clearly in this scan, but he's got 'em. |

Good job! For anyone who's interested, in the first GH serial his gas gun was a broomhandle Mauser (yeah!) with 4 CO2 cartridges and some metal tubing added under the barrel. |

I dread what "updates" will be done to the uniforms and characters

As an aside, the Green Hornet and Kato have a much older pedigree than that awful 1960s TV series
If you want to do -real- pulp, check out the older movie serials, the radio series, the pulps, etc
And I may know someone cooking up appropriate figures. One never knows. -A. |

That's also a great Kato figure -- if I'd known of him earlier, I'd have painted two! Must pick this up ASAP. There is an old Ral Partha figures called "Secret Agent" or "Debonair Spy" that was an obvious James Bond type -- garbed in formal evening attire for dining or the gambling table, his small stature and outfit makes him perfect as an Oriental Houseboy type, so I'm busy now painting one up as Kato in his day job. There ought to be a Britt Reid type to be found, too. Now I need Miss Case, DA Scanlon, etc. I'm a fan of the 60's series, I can't help it, my boyhood was warped. I am aware of the earlier incarnations, but it's the 60s version that grabbed me (and still does). |
