Hello all! I've ordered a bunch of Viking miniatures lately just for the fun of painting some Ancient/Dark Ages figures and, as usual, I will probably end up selling them once they are done (it might take some time since I'm already working on several projects at once
) My question, to you Ancient/Dark ages gamers, is what would be the better approach for selling them? There's plenty of different rules out there for the period but they don't always use the same basing system. Should I sell the figures unbased or mounted individually on 20mm square bases? What would be the better option if I want to sell them later on? Many thanks! |

20mm squares is probably the most versatile basing for 28mm. They can be used for single figure based massed battle games and skirmish games with no problems. 20mm also makes it easy for someone to base their figures for WRG style games. One thing that keeps me from buying is the base style. I like a simple style and it seems that most painters make a work of art out of their bases. It doesn't match my basing scheme. John |

I would say unbased, or if based, that the base is left unfinished. That way, the end purchaser can detail them to match. I also agree that the 20mm square is the most flexible, not knowing which system the purchaser will be using. Respects, |

If you are going to sell -- leave them unbased. mjc |

I agree with quid above. Leave them unbased if they are for sale. Some folks will want 20mm frontage, others 25, some others maybe 15. Others will want to put them on multi-fig bases, want a different ground effect etc. |

Just for what it's worth, my son once painted some ACW and offered them for sale at a historical convention. Got nothing but grief over his bases and the base sizes. If you can avoid this controversy -- seems that is the way to go. mjc |

Another vote for unbased. Any figures I buy get re-based if already on bases so that they look like they are on the same field as the guys around them. |
