Well Thomas L
.. I like to be thorough. So pretty well all applicable ships are included in the cd. Well
.I hope so
.there were when I handed the material in to the publishers! I guess you cant go wrong with some Flower class corvettes, some old V&W class destroyers and some A to I class destroyers. Then some sloops would be helpful, particularly the Black Swan class. Old US Flush deck DD's are in it too. British escort trawlers are also needed. Merchant ships include everything from the early 1940's and late 1930's, through to WW1 mass construction and even older. But in general they are cargo carriers, a few tankers etc. Only a few troopships appear in the game. Ships regularly on the Gibraltar run tended to be a bit smaller than those that crossed the Atlantic, but the larger types also have to take passage on that route from time to time, so there are some of them in a convoy as well. Its a bit too early for US built Liberty & Victory ships. However they appear in the next game which is the Arctic convoy routes. German submarines are mostly type VII but also a few IX and there are some Italian submarines too. |

Oh
.and I forgot to mention. The merchant ships are of a very wide range of nationalities. Even some Swedish ships on lease, despite that country being neutral. As with the warships, the cd depicts the merchant ships in colour to give players an idea of the variety of styles they can be painted. |

Mal, thanks a lot for your responses. In the meantime I had allready drafted a rough list of classes I'd probably need but wasn't too sure about the DD classes used in those early Gibraltar convoys. And now that I have discovered North Head Miniatures "Deadly waters" range, my plan to use 1:6000 is shelved. Those minis look too intriguing to switch away from 1:3000. |

Last question, Mal. Honest! :) Does the system generate the convoys (numbers, types, formation, etc.) or do we need to make them up? |

Last question, Mal. Honest! :) Feel free to ask as many questions as you like Daniel. The system does generate convoys including number and types of ships as well as escort. However players can just as easily use what ever ships they have available, or want to use. But if they use the convoy generator, it will provide them with convoys and escorts close to historical type. |
