Dear Steve Thanks very much. I have been looking for some plans for the 18th century pieces and sorting out the lineage of the Russian guns. Clearly shows the change in construction in 1796 with the introduction of the horizontal boring machine by Gascoigne formally of the Carron Foundry in Scotland. The simplification of lines and dolphins so characteristic of the M1805 system. Also a fuller explanation of the Shuvalov secret howitzer. Stephen |
